Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

A small stone walled enclosure was identified on a low outcrop on the eastern side of the study area. It is approximately 5 metres in diameter, with some sections of the wall being approximately 1,5 metres high. According to local tradition this was feature was built by early sheep herders to take shelter in during the night. 2. A second small stone walled enclosure was identified on the eastern edge of the development area. It is approximately three metres in diameter. According to local tradition this was feature was built by early sheep herders to take shelter in during the night.

1. It is anticipated that no development would take place on this outcrop. However, it is recommended the site is marked off with danger tape during construction, leaving a buffer area of at least 5 metres from the outer edge of the stone walling. 2. This site is located right on the edge of the development site. It would there be easy to avoid it and it recommended that it is marked off with danger tape during construction, leaving a buffer area of at least 5 metres from the outer edge of the stone walling.
