SiteComments:

Matakoma ARM Heritage Contracts Unit identified a Middle Iron age site comprising a concentration of decorated and undecorated ceramics exposed by drilling activities. The techniques used in decorating the pottery include bangle impressions and incisions. These decorated ceramics were provisionally identified in 2007 as belonging to the Madikwe facies. The approximate age of the site was estimated to between 1350AD and 1600AD. Additionaly, lower grinding dtones as well as hut dagga (with pole impressions) were found in association with the ceramics. However, no stonewalling could be seen. However, early stone age lithics were observed across the surface of a lower ridge at the site.
