Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

The permit is issued to Gerrit Dusseldorp (University of Johannesburg) to temporarily export coarse-grained lithics and sieved material(s) from Umhlathuzana archaeological site for analysis at Material Studies Laboratory, the Netherlands. The materials are housed at the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and were collected under AMAFA Permit REF: SAH0018/ 12384.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the lithics and sieved materials listed in this permit may be exported.

2. The samples must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the accessioning institution.

3. The material will be couriered to the Material Studies Laboratory, Faculty of Archaeology Leiden University Einsteinweg 2300 RA Leiden, The Netherlands .

4. Gerrit Dusseldorp is responsible for the analysis of the samples and their transport to and from the above mentioned institution.

6. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

9. Annual permit reports on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 23 January 2022 with the final permit report sent on or before 23 January 2023 using the template in the following link: https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports.

10. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

11. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

13. Should any legal proceedings arise with regard to this permit or the transport and loan of the material, these proceedings must be addressed within in the South African legislative framework.

14. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
