Achaetos Cultural & Heritage Consultants have been appointed to assist with the removal of a bust located at Louw Wepener Memorial and grave on the farm Felicia 457RD in Bethulie, Free State province. The monument was built in 1940. The SAHRA Burial Grounds and Graves Unit has no objection to the proposed removal of the Wepener bust to be replaced with a 3D scan provided that the following conditions are adhered to:
- A Heritage specialist must be on site to monitor the proposed bust removal activity.
- Historical Monuments form a significant part of our Heritage estate and must therefore be handled with care.
- The removal process must be documented and a report with photographic evidence must be submitted to the case on SAHRIS.
- The report is due by 25 March 2022.
- It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
- The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
- The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
