Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Conditions: 

The permit is issued to Dr Paloma de la Peña (ESI, University of the Witwatersrand) on behalf of Ms Dineo Masia (ESI, University of the Witwatersrand), for sampling and destructive analysis of 53 stone tool flakes from Mwulu's Cave. The material are currently housed at the Evolutionary Studies Institute (ESI), University of the Witwatersrand.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be sampled.

2.  Ms Dineo Masia is responsible for analysis of the material under the supervision of Dr. Paloma de la Peña.

3. Destructive sampling and/or thin sections will be done at Geosciences Laboratory, University of the Witwatersrand.

4. Detailed recording of the samples must be done before destruction.

5. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 31 August 2023 using the template in the following link: https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports.

8. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

10. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

11. Should any legal proceedings arise with regard to this permit or the transport and loan of the material, these proceedings must be addressed within in the South African legislative framework.

12. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
