This permit is issued to Wouter Fourie of PGS Heritage (Pty) Ltd for the collection and analysis of Bone material exposed during vegetation clearance for the proposed expansion of mining activities of the Nkomati Anthracite Mine, Nkomazi Local Municipality, Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province. Wouter Fourie is responsible for monitoring all disturbances and the collection of bone material.
Conditions:
- If the permit holder is not to be present on the site at all times, then SAHRA must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.
- Monitoring of the site by the permit holder, or a representative approved by SAHRA as well as representatives of the Masilela Family is compulsory for the entire duration of the work undertaken.
- The use of equipment (TLB & Graders) is permitted.
- The top soil will be removed in a controlled manner to allow monitoring by an archaeologist.
- Any archaeological material discovered during the process will be collected under this permit and the Lydenburg Museum, Mpumalanga will be responsible for material curation.
- Bone material collected under this permit will be sent to Ditsong Meseum of Cultural History where Dr. Annie Antonites will be respnsible for the analysis.
- Human remains and/or graves uncocered during this process may not be exhumed or relocated under this permit. A permit for any dicocered human remains and/or graves must be obtained for the exhumation and relocation this dicoveries.
- A monitoring report and permit report on the analysis of the bones must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 31 March 2022.
- It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission to access the site from the landowner for each site visit.
- Reprints of all published papers or copies of theses and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA.
- If a published report has not appeared within three years of the lapsing of this permit, the report required in terms of the permit will be made available to researchers on request.
- SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
- SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder
