Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Side of Mambundwini hill cut by road, river gravel in situ above road in places and scattered below road, extending for quite a distance towards Mbozamo School. Elevation:

SiteComments: 

Artefacts are found for quite a distance above and below the road and are on quartzite. A number of disc cores, the odd flake, chopper and hand-axes are on quartzite. Disc-cores probably Middle Stone Age others probably Early Stone Age.
Extension of gravel to west just below where road makes sharp bend to the north, and where path crosses river, similar Early Stone Age artefacts including hand-axes, chopper, large cores etc. Also a scatter of Middle Stone Age on weathered hornfels including typical flakes and one unifacial point.
