Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Directions: 

Take Inanda Road through Waterfall down to the Umgeni River. Just before turning left to go upstream and opposite the confluence with the Mzinyati River is a sandy bank eroded by 1987 floods just off the road. In the bank and in front of the left of two huts is a furnace. Elevation:

2,5m high sandy bank, furnace debris 60cm below top of bank. Pieces of furnace and tuyere eroding onto the road. Pieces of slag less than 1cm square in size. Material not collected.
