Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

DistinguishingFeatures: 

The carved wooden sculpture is made of teak wood, depicts a dancing figure in an abstract manner. The figure stands atop two bases, one of the same teak wood, and one larger and square beneath this.

The sculpture is signed and dated 'LIPPY 1928' to the lower base and has been exhibited on two occasions: 

Ashbey's Galleries, Cape Town, March, 1934, no. 38

Argus Gallery, Cape Town, March 1944, no. 45.

This sculpture appears in A.A. Balkema's Catalogue Raisonne one Lipshitz, p. 56 no. 21.

 



Inscriptions: 

The sculpture is signed and dated 'LIPPY 1928' to the lower base.
