Site Comments:

The site consists of two stone cairns located within the proposed Return Water Dam on the farm Mimosa 81 JQ. The site is located on soft red sand on the crest ridge overlooking the Kgetleng (Elands) River. Both cairns are rectangular in shape, are packed with small to medium sized stones and are orientated along the east -west axis. The larger of the two measured 1.5m by 1.4m, with the smaiier cairn measuring 1.4m by 0.9m. A broken lower grinder formed part of the eastern end of one cairn, with another broken lower grinder identified nearby. No formal headstones could be seen, however, the possibility exists for both cairns to be graves.
