Site Comments:

Historical power line pylons, Early 20th century. The linear site comprises a series of historic power line pylons that were probably constructed during the early 20th century as part of the early power grid network in South Africa. The pylons seem to have been constructed with a cement compound and metal core. The unique design (almost art-deco) is good example of this time period and should be preserved. The section that was recorded (also spanning the mining pit) is approximately 6 km in length. It does however extend further on both sides of the recorded section.
