Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: The foundations and part of the walls of this church were built In 1834, It was to have been the first Baptist Church in South Africa outside Grahamstown but three successive Frontier Wars intervened before it was completed in 1854.

Condition: PoorThe church is in need of a considerable amount of work. Problems include structural cracks and the need for painting of walls, roof and woodwork.

Directions:
Take Port Alfred road from Grahamstown. After 5km take the Southwell turn-off. Travel a further ?km to the Berkley South turn-off. After 2,6km there is a turn-off to the right. The church is situated 100m along this turn-off.
