History: The Cape St Francis lighthouse, a cylindrical structure which stands on a rock foundation, is one of the highest lighthouses in South Africa and is from a navigational point of view very important to shipping. Building commenced in 1876 and was completed in 1878. The tower and the original two lighthouse keepers’ houses form a unique architectural complex.
