Visual Description: Well-preserved three-bay house with hipped roof, high walls with corner quoins and rustic plaster. Verandah with hipped ogee roof (red and metal stripes) and trelliswork arched friezes, supports and railings. 3x3-panelled double door, fanlight with big and small rectangluar panes. Tall side-hung small-paned windows with half-solid half-louvered shutters. Wide door surround. On right of house is an old Cape wall, and at the end a long outbuilding with a flat roof was probably a coach-house, now garage.

According to a 1909 photograph (see Rosenthal 1959, p. 53) the house originally had a Karoo-type flat roof with pedimented parapet and the verandah extended round the left corner. The tall windows were the same as now and the verandah roof was striped. The old wall was also there but not the outbuilding.

This is a very interesting house from an architectural and local cultural point of view and should be investigated for proclamation.
