History: The Alphen property was granted to Theunis van Schalkwyk in 1714. The historic homestead dates back to the middle of the 18th century, although the upper storey was probably added only later. Architecturally, Alphen is a square double-storeyed manor house with a beautiful pediment and exceptional front door.
