Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout

History: This historical building Windybrow is one of the last remaining mansions in Doornfontein. It was used, inter alia, as a homestead, officer's mess in the Anglo-Boer War and as part of the first College of Nursing in South Africa. Windybrow was constructed in 1896 and was designed by William Leck in the pseudo-Tudor style.
