During the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century the farm Renosterspruit was the property of Jakobus Albertus Badenhorst. His involvement in the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902) against the British forces resulted in his house being burnt down. His family was then taken to a concentration camp. On his return from exile after the War, he had to built himself and his family a house. Therefore just after 1903 the above-mentioned building was erected. Dina Maria Badenhorst, the eldest daughter of Badenhorst, lived in this house until her death in 1973. Since Dina's death the building stayed unused and unaltered until 1990. The present owner of the building, Mrs D.D. Robbertze acquired the property after her parents death.

The building has a simple T -shape form and is built with stone and half burnt bricks, plastered with cement. The veranda which forms an extension of the corrugated iron pitched roof, runs continuously from the eastern side, through the front (north) to the western side of the building. The veranda is currently provided with cement pillars which are later replacements of the original timber supports.

The building is provided with sliding sash timber windows mostly under the veranda. Towards both the eastern and western sides of the building, there are projecting bays which end in triangular gables. There is a flat-roofed addition with steel windows erected to the rear of the building.

The entrance to the building is provided with a double timber door with coloured glazing in the top sections. The door opens into a wide passage which is provided with a timber floor and ceiling. Most of the rooms are also provided with timber ceilings and floors. The interior doors are made of timber, but all of them are not original. The walls on the inside of the building are plastered and painted white.
