Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: Built c1897 after the farm was purchased by Peter Smith, the founder of the Borough of Dundee, for his youngest son, also named Peter: occupied by the Boers during the Battle of Talana and used as a field hospital (farmhouse) and mortuary (stables).
Visual Description: Homestead consisting of typical colonial farmhouse, a dressed dolorite stable, coach-house with billiard room, and dressed dolorite shop. Little altered since construction.

Directions:
Travelling out of Dundee towards Vryheid, turn left to Thornley about 2km after crossing the bridge. The historic Thornley Homestead, consisiting of the farmhouse together with 50 metres of the front garden, as well as the outbuildings at the rear of the farmhouse, situated on a portion of the Remainder of Sub-division B of the farm Dundee 4339 incom.
