History: This property forms an important part of the historic site of the first White settlement west of Port Natal. The erf is one of the few open spaces in the city centre of Durban and, with its indigenous trees, it constitutes an important aesthetic element. The property with the Wild Fig trees thereon described as Subdivision B of Lot 1 BLOCK MARKET SQUARE of the Town Lands of Durban No. 1737, situate in the City and County of Durban Province of Natal; in extent eleven thousand six hundred and fifty-two (11652) square feet. Certificate of Registered Titls 3001/1964'dated 24.3.1964.
