Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: This house was the home of John Dube, founder of the Ohlange Institution and Ilanga newspaper. Dube
Visual Description: Single storey Natal verandah house with corrugated-iron roof, redbrick walls and gable at each end of verandah. Rectangular casements with fanlights above and four panel doors. The verandah is on two sides and is supported on pillars.Interior: Oregon flooring. tongue-and-groove ceiling, 4 paneldoors. A featureis a sliding door betwen lounge and diningroom.

Site Features: The building is a landmark atop a promnient hill. It has views on three sides towards the see. Durban harbour can be seen 20km distant. The home of John Dube, first president of the ANC, a educationalist., black editor and political leader.
