Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Archive Import: of historical and architectural interest-designed by Stot& Kirby to serve the growing community in the area, with important fasmily names of Hulett (Sir Liege) and Balcomb amoungst others being recorded. Peters W Survey of Buildings of Architectural and/or Historical interests, National Monument Council, Durban, 1996.
History: This church building was built by Mr A. Rovik and was completed early in 1908. It was consecrated on 23 May 1908.East- West aligned church of 5 bays, each seperated by a wide, battered buttress and slit windows within a rhythm of pointed arch fields: large west-facing lancet window: flared eaves, gable hipped west end: slate roof and unpainted plastered alls.
Interior: Nine of the original pews are still in the chapel (the others weremoved to Darnell Methodist Church)
Built at the instigation of Sir Liege Hulett, who was a Methodist lay preacher in the Verulum circuit, to serve the growing sugar community in the area.
