Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Archive Import; Of historical and architectural interest.
History: The mansion dates from about the year 1900 and is one of the few remaining so-called "sugar palaces" in Natal. The Isivundu Tea Estate is the property of Messrs Horace Balcomb and Sons.... originally granted to their father, Mr B Balcomb in 1859... tea planting... success rewarded his efforts.
Visual Description: Longitudinal house with 'witch's' tower at entrance. Perimeter verandah, very large 1/1 sliding sash windows. Classical detailing: verandah éntablature' breaks forward at columns. House apperently imported as kit from Radford & Radford, Chicago.
