Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Archive Import;Significance: Battlesiteof significant victoryfor the Boers against British forces led by Sir George Pomeroy Colley (killed in action) on 26th February 1881.
History: Majuba Battlefield;Conservation Area, proclaimed to provide protection for the wider battlefield area. Sir George Pomeroy Colley led a mixed force of British troops to the top of Majuba Hill, overlooking the Boer encampments. The battle which ensued on 26th February 1881 was a resounding victory for the Boers.

The farm Majuba noth 11267, with exclusion of the already declared national monument site as indicated by the figure ABCDEA on survey diagram SG 288/41 dated 24 April 1941, situated in the county of Klip River, Province Of Nata in extent 28,3384 HECT. On the farms Majuba North No. 11267, Majuba South No. 10614 and Laing's Nek A No. 8441, Klip River County, Province of Natal.
