Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: The former Pietermaritzburg Supreme Court building, an impressive face-brick building in the Renaissance pavilion style. It forms an integral part of the historic civic and government precinct of central Pietermaritzburg and now houses the Tatham Art Gallery, Originally designed as a Post Office, and later converted for use as the Pietermaritzburg Supreme Court: now the home of Tatham Art Gallery. The Memorial Arch (TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD: with names of those who fell during WW I & WW II) was unveiled in February 1922: the Anglo-Zulu War Memorial (to those who fell at the battles of Isandlwana, Rorke's Drift, Ulundi and others during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879)
Visual Description: Double-storey court building with symmetrical arcaded front showing Romanesque influence. Four pavilions at the corners are demarcated by pitched roofs. External facebrick walls broken by bands of stone moulding and plaster: plastered columns;
