Changes to SAHRIS!

Archive Import: Significance: This rectangular building dates from about 1930 and forms, especially architecturally, an integral part of the historic core of Vryheid. The scale, form and texture contribute to its becoming an important visual link to adjoining historic buildings.
History:Proclaimed in view of the Bantu Administration buildings,strategic position, in conjunction with the other nearby situated historic buildings. The Bantu Administration building is a long rectangular building with smooth white washed walls, rusticated at each end. The roof is of corrugated iron and the facade has eight evenly spaced sash windows. The entrance to the building is surrounded by dressed sandstone. Two rose windows also appear in the front facade. It was built in the 1930s and is not of exceptional historical or architectural importance.
It was proclaimed in view of the Bantu Administration buildings’ strategic position, in conjunction with the other nearby situated historic buildings, i.e. the proclaimed Old Raadsaal, the Old Fort, the Carnegie Library and the Police Station. The scale of the building as well as its form and texture all contribute to it becoming an important visual link with the adjoining historic buildings.
Visual Description: Rectangular building; smooth white-washed walls (rusticated); corrugated iron roof; eight sash windows and two rose windows: entrance surrounded by dressed sandstone.
