Changes to SAHRIS!
The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:
- A new & modernised look and layout
- Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
- Improved site performance and stability
Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

St Francis Hospital

The site was first established as a mission station in 1936 by Roman Catholic missionaries and in 1985 the hospital was amalgamated with Nkonjeni Hospital.St Francis Mission is noteworthy for its historical associations with Victor Africander, the great grandson of Joe Africander, a black American ex-slave who came to South Africa with the Revd Robertson, a missionary. These men founded the mission station at Mahlabathini. One of Joe Africander's three sons,William was the first black to be ordained as a deacon; Samuel, Revd Victor's grandfather was a catechist, and his father, Joshua, was a priest3
