Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

This more recent sand quarry did not exist at the first inspection of the study area early in April 2005. It is an extensive earthmoving exercise most likely to quarry the dune sands for construction purposes. No good profiles were exposed and no in situ materials were seen. No marine shell or bone was seen. Disturbance of subsurface archaeological materials through quarrying is performed illegally
