ProposalDescription:

ARCHAEOLOGICAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (AIA) FOR THE PROPOSED SONFIN OSEILAND 1MWP PV PLANT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ON A PORTION OF THE FARM REINGELUK 107, KAI GARIB LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, SIYANDA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE

Expanded_Motivation:

The proposed Sonfin Oseiland Development Project entails the development of a 1MWp PV Plant Photovoltaic Solar Generation facility over a footprint area of not more than 0.9ha. A site alternative directly east of large grape vines was identified for the development. Here, an area of 2.8ha including the development footprint proposed for the PV power plant was unfortunately cleared by means of earth moving prior to the site investigation. Surfaces were stripped of vegetation and the area was sterilised of possible heritage occurrences and remains. As such, the AIA draws much of its inferences from observations in the landscape surrounding the cleared areas.
