ProposalDescription:

Mr JS van Niekerk, the applicant for the township establishment on Portion 1 of Holding 25 Amorosa Agricultural Holdings IQ, appointed Environamic CC to conduct the necessary Environmental Studies for the proposed development in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), Act No. 107 of 1998, as amended, and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (2014) as amended in 2017.The proposed development is to construct 19 residential units on the property and the township will be known as Amorosa Extension 57, in Gauteng. (Please refer to the Locality Map as per Figure 1 below.)

Expanded_Motivation:

A Biodiversity Specialist Report was completed and mentioned that no species of conservation concern were observed during the field assessment, within the development footprint. The report also states that it is considered unlikely that any such species will occur within the boundaries of the property given the lack of habitat connectivity, lack of unique or suitable habitat and reduced resources within the overall disturbed nature of the property. The Specialists furthermore reported that no significant impacts on the biodiversity within the boundaries of the property are anticipated. The Cultural and Historical Specialist Report also indicated that there are no potential impacts related to cultural and or historical significance present on the property. An application as described in the aforementioned EIA Regulations will be lodged with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) following the Public Participation Process. The application will be under the following listings: • GNR 327 - Listing Notice - Activity 27 - The clearance of an area of 1 hectare or more, but less than 20 hectares of indigenous vegetation. • GNR. 324 - Listing Notice 3 - Activity 12(c) Gauteng - The clearance of an area of 300 square metres or more of indigenous vegetation (c) in Gauteng. All Interested and Affected Parties are hereby given notice of the proposed development and the purpose of this public participation is to identify and evaluate areas of concern and potential impacts as well as to propose feasible mitigation measure against such impacts. Details of the Draft Basic Assessment Report and the Specialist Reports will be made available for your perusal, upon request. You are also hereby requested to register an Interested and Affected Party. It will be appreciated if you could submit your name, contact information and concerns, in writing, by 10 August 2021.
