Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Proposed demolition of two short sections of stone walling for the purposes of constructing a road on Standvastigheid 210/remainder, Northern Cape.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The Karusa Wind Farm is due to commence construction shortly. Part of the authorisation conditions involved building a short section of new access road because the existing road passes within 2-3 m of a very significant house that is also inhabited. The new alignment crosses farm fields and in two places crosses the remnants of old stone walls. A follow-up survey resulted in micrositing of the wall crossing points to areas where natural degradation was worse in order to maximise preservation of the walls. This application is to allow for the destruction of the remnant walls at the two points of concern and to stabilise the broken through sections to prevent further crumbling at these areas.
