Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The Sishen Iron Ore Company (Pty) Ltd (SIOC) and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) are proposing the development of an industrial park near Kathu in the Northern Cape for the purpose of establishing an operating platform for businesses that support mining and other industries. The proposed ‘Kathu Supplier Park’ will be located on the Farm Sekgame 461 south of Kathu and the R 380 provincial road. The Phase 1 development of the supplier park will cover a footprint of 74 ha and could increase in future to cover an area of 140 ha on completion.

The Sishen Iron Ore Company (Pty) Ltd (SIOC) and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) are proposing the development of an industrial park near Kathu in the Northern Cape for the purpose of establishing an operating platform for businesses that support mining and other industries. The proposed ‘Kathu Supplier Park’ will be located on the Farm Sekgame 461 south of Kathu and the R 380 provincial road. The Phase 1 development of the supplier park will cover a footprint of 74 ha and could increase in future to cover an area of 140 ha on completion. SIOC, the applicant, has applied for environmental authorisation from the Northern Cape Department of Environment and Nature Conservation (DENC) in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998) as amended, and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (Government Notice Regulation (GNR) 543, published 18 June 2010). The application was accepted by the DENC on 14 March 2014 (Ref: NC/EIAII 4/JTG/GAM/KAT 1/2014 NCP/EIAl0000279/20 14). The proposed project was announced in March 2014 with the distribution of notification letters and a background information document followed by the distribution of the Scoping Report. The draft EIA report has been prepared in terms of the EIA Regulations (2010). In accordance with the EIA Regulations, the draft report will be submitted to DENC.
