ProposalDescription:

The project aims to reinvestigate the site of Bushman Rock Shelter (BRS), excavated in the 60's and 70's. BRS contains a long LSA and MSA sequence, rich in mineral and organic remains; however, a complete study of the site has not been realised because the field diaries from previous excavations are missing. Here, we propose to excavate a narrow band on the West profile of the site, to clarify the stratigraphy, to get new dating and new archaeological samples. The excavation will have a limited impact on the deposits and will help contextualizing the old collections and previous excavations. Bushman Rock shelter is located in the district of Ohrigstad, LIMPOPO.
