Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Application for Exemption from a Phase 1 Heritage Impact Assessment Proposed Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ), Mbonambi Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal

Expanded_Motivation: 

The Richards Bay Industrial Development Company (IDC) has earmarked Phase 2A for future industrial development . The area measures approximately 1000 ha in extent and is currently planted to eucalyptus plantation in its entirety (see Case Images). Application is underway for its conversion from agriculture to industrial use. The strategic intent of the Richards Bay IDC is to create the RBIDZ in fulfillment of the fundamental objectives of the National Cabinet, namely: • to develop and establish a purpose built, world-class industrial park incorporating a delimited Customs Controlled Area and linked to the Richards Bay International Port, • to provide quality infrastructure including transport, business and utility services, • to attract foreign and local sustainable investment projects which create employment and export opportunities and, • to promote foster and mentor BEE and SMME business opportunities around the zone.
