Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS Heritage (PTY) Ltd has been appointed by Glencore South Africa (PTY) Ltd to affect the relocation of 43 graves located in one informal cemetery on the farm Boshmansfontein 12 IS, Mpumalanga. Martins Funerals (Emalahleni) will be responsible for the handling and reburial of the exhumed human remains. Of the 43 graves, 2 are known to be older than 60 years and 16 have been assumed to be older than 60 years old as stipulated in the Heritage Act. The graves will be impacted by mining activities. The details of this cemetery and graves are as follows: • TOP 14: Latitude: -26.0416399967 Longitude : 29.2028359696 This cemetery contains a total of 420 graves located on the farm Boshmansfontein 12 IS, near Ogies, Mpumalanga Province. We had previously received permission to relocate 386 graves from this cemetery, which were relocated within eMalahleni and to five other local municipal cemeteries outside eMalahleni. The families included in this permit were still negotiating the terms of the relocation of their graves with the mine.The Ntuli family (NOK Stuurman Ntuli) are claiming 27 graves and 2 are known to be older than 60 years and the age of 14 are not known by the family, therefore it is regarded to be older than 60 years. The details of the deceased persons can be found in the attached grave register. The graves will be relocated to the cemeteries as requested by the family. The other graves remaining in this cemetery adding to the 43 have already been received (Permit ID 2117).
