ProposalDescription:

Water reticulation, Empangeni, KZN

Expanded_Motivation:

The uMhlathuze Municipality proposes to construct a new bulk water pipe line from the Hilltop Reservoir to the EIRDP. The proposed pipe line, with dimensions ranging from 250 mm to 630 mm from the Hilltop Reservoir to the boundary of the housing project, is largely motivated on the basis of supplying water to the EIRDP. The proposed alignment of the pipe line will not exceed three (3) kilometres in length and consists of two (2) alignments to provide water to both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the EIRDP. The pipe line traverses a number of properties, which are currently under sugar cane cultivation before terminating at the boundary of the EIRDP. The housing development has an existing Environmental Authorization. Additionally, engagement with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will occur and a General Authorisation (GA) process followed for this proposed pipe line.
