Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The attached permit application relates to the application for demolition of three structures older than 60 years situated on Tongaat Hulett Development properties. The location of the site is at Hospital Road or referred to as Break Drive in close vicinity of Town Tongaat. The area forms part of the eThekwini Metro Municipality and is earmarked for residential and commercial developments. Three structures of low significance were identified by the historical architect and recommendations were made regarding the conservation of the building material.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The three houses of low significance are situated on Portion 16 (2) Buffelskloof No. 1267 at Tongaat, Durban, eThekwini Metro Municipality. The current surrounding land-use relate to sugar cane farming and the provision of labour housing to Tongaat Hulett staff members. The types of developments earmarked by the property owner relate to planned residential and commercial developments. As of architectural value the buildings were constructed of conventional materials and fashion. The structures are utilitarian in planning and consist of low conservation values.
