Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Special Notice

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Proposed L3491 Sahlumbe Road Upgrade near Mbango, Alfred Duma Local Municipality. The Applicant proposes to cut a new road and construct the relevant drainage infrastructure along the identified road. The road will be approximately 2.2km in length and 7m wide (8m at certain portions that require additional v-drains). Furthermore, the Applicant proposes to install pipe culvert structures of several diameters within the identified watercourses.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Due to the lack of services within the area, the Department of Transport has classified this project as high priority. Hanslab (Pty) Ltd. was appointed via the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport (Applicant) as the Environmental Consultant for the project/ proposed development. The project involves the upgrade of an existing footpath to a type 7A Gravel Road (L3491 – Sahlumbe Road) The Applicant proposes to cut a new road and construct the relevant drainage infrastructure along the identified road. The road will be approximately 2.2km in length and 7m wide (8m at certain portions that require additional v-drains). Furthermore, the Applicant proposes to install pipe culvert structures of several diameters within the identified watercourses. The proposed upgrade and associated structures trigger listed activities within the EIA Regulations, 2014 (as amended in 2017) which constitute an Application for an Environmental Authorisation.
