ProposalDescription:

Proposed mapping and excavation of features on sites 2732BC 003 and 2732BC 004, plus analysis of the recovered remains.

Expanded_Motivation:

Sites 2732BC 003 and 004 are part of a set recorded around Lake Sibaya that belongs to the Silver Leaves phase of the Iron Age. They represent the earliest agriculturists in southern Africa with sites to date recorded in northern South Africa, southeast Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique. Now, around Lake Sibaya, is a cluster of similar sites which indicate agriculturist settlement in KwaZulu-Natal from the period AD 280-450. Uploaded documents provide a detailed motivation for the proposed project.
