Development Type:

ProposalDescription:

This request for comment relates to the portion of a proposed new bulk water pipeline between the Leliefontein Reservoir outside Paarl and Conmarine Reservoir outside Wellington which will cross the farmland attached to SAHRA's historic Daljosafat properties, which are formally declared National Heritage Sites. Daljosafat, Western Cape.

Expanded_Motivation:

A new bulk water pipeline is to be constructed between the Leliefontein and Conmarine Reservoirs outside Paarl and Wellington respectively. The new 900 mm pipeline will be installed next to and within the 15 m servitude declared around the existing pipeline between the two reservoirs. The installation of the pipeline will be by trenching, to an average depth of approximately 2.5 m. The pipeline will be laid along the eastern edge of SAHRA's land (Farm 1341), from the corner of Bo-Daljosfat Street and Bo-Dal Road in the south. At a bend approximately 880 m along Bo-Dal Road, the pipeline crosses the road to follow the existing pipe alignment across a field, before leaving SAHRA's land. An alternative route will see this last section following the eastern line of the Bo-Dal Road. Figure 2 uploaded with this case shows what is described above.
