Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS Heritage (Pty) Ltd, has been appointed by Cosmopolitan Projects to affect the relocation of one (1) grave. The grave will be adversely affected by the building and construction operations to be undertaken by Cosmopolitan Projects. This grave is located in an informal burial grounds on remainder of Erf 2 in Lotus Gardens, Pretoria, Gauteng Province.

The grave will be adversely affected by the building and construction operations to be undertaken by Cosmopolitan Projects. The 1 (one) grave is situated in a local informal burial ground; west of Pretoria CBD, North of the N4 Magalies Freeway (Toll Road) near the Atteridgeville Township and is located on: • Remainder of Erf 2, Lotus Gardens at GPS Coordinates: S25.74436⁰; E28.07994⁰ PGS Heritage Pty (Ltd) has conducted a process of stakeholder engagement to identify the buried individuals and to obtain requests for exhumation and re-internment from the affected families. This process commenced in August 2017. Bilingual (Setswana and English) site notices were erected on the 31st of August 2017 and newspaper notices were published in the Daily Sun on the 15th of September and the 22nd of September 2017 in the Pretoria West Rekord. During the stakeholder engagement process no family came forward claiming the grave and it will therefore be reburied at the Zandfontein Municipal Cemetery.
