Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

LUSHABA TO MALUNGA ACCESS ROAD, LOCATED ON 14/15839 OF FARM RESERVE NO 19, WITHIN WARD 3, NKANDLA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, KWAZULU-NATAL

Expanded_Motivation: 

The project is situated in Ward 3 of the Nkandla Local Municipality, King Cetshwayo District. The site is located approximately, 18km north west of Nkandla town. The site is located at co-ordinates 28°32'24.66"S 30°58'04.30"E (start points and ends at 28°31'36.72"S 30°56'31.35"E. The Nkandla Local Municipality have proposed the construction of a new 4060m gravel road between the villages of Lushaba and Malunga . The proposed road will following an existing track, with sections of horizontal and vertical re-alignments required in order for the road to meet minimum design standards. The first watercourse crossing (WC1)comprises flood damage repairs to an existing culvert bridge crossing, over the main perennial Nsuze River. Ingress and egress points of the bridge are proposed for rehabilitation, and river embankment stabilisation. Water course crossings 2 - 7 traverse non-perennial tributaries of the Nsuze River. The new road and watercourse crossings will provide formal access and an efficient link between the villages of Lushaba and Malunga. The project also aims to allow local residents to have improved, formalised vehicular access to their homes, schools, shops and the extended road network, particularly during high rainfall periods when access is limited. The new proposed road includes seven (7) watercourse crossings which traverse the Nsuze River and its tributaries. The location and detail of each crossing is provided below: Watercourse Crossing Co-ordinates (DMS) Proposed infrastructure and Dimensions WC1: 28°32'21.39"S 30°57'59.56"E Addition of 3(unit) 2,4 x 1.2 box culverts on the southern road river bank. Ingress and egress embankment stabilisation and repairs by infill and gabion basket. (19m long by 4,3 m wide) WC2: 28°32'6.22"S 30°57'48.60"E 2.4mx 1.2m box culverts (10.50m in length, 7.7m wide, 1.925m high) WC3: 28°32'3.46"S 30°57'45.26"E 2.4x 1.2 box culverts (43.24m in length, 7.7m wide, 2.5m high) WC4: 28°32'1.14"S 30°57'39.78"E 2.4mx 1.2m box culverts (10.50m in length, 7.7m wide, 1.925m high) WC5: 28°31'50.43"S 30°57'22.64"E 2.4x 1.2 box culverts (43.24m in length, 7.7m wide, 2.5m high) WC6: 28°31'56.28"S 30°57'2.38"E 2.4x 1.2 box culverts (43.24m in length, 7.7m wide, 2.5m high) WC7: 28°31'42.54"S 30°56'45.95"E 2.4mx 1.2m box culverts (10.50m in length, 7.7m wide, 1.925m high) The proposed road construction will be constructed and complete with formal stormwater infrastructure, cut-off drains and a watercourse crossing structure, and road signs. The proposed road width is expected to be a 6m wide cambered gravel access road, with 1m servitudes on either side, having a total width of 8m. The development will provide safer intersections at provincial road P707 and district road D2039. Currently, the access to these roads are not formalised and is not according to minimum required standards.
