Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

The project area is approximately 713.57 ha in extent and is situated within Ward 1 of the Uphongolo Local Municipality. The site is made up of Portion 2 of the Farm Uitschot No. 650. The project area consists of low to medium density rural settlements (scattered), with homesteads incorporating a mix of traditional and more modern or urban materials and techniques. The existing settlements are predominantly located to the east of the site. The site is bordered by the R66 roadway to the east and the Nkunzana River is located to the south east of the site.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed Mahlongosi Rural Subsidised Housing project will result in the construction of approximately 1000 new top structures and will therefore service approximately 1000 beneficiaries and their associated families. One VIP will be constructed per top structure. Construction of the top structures and VIP will be within each existing imuzi (development footprint). There will be no construction of roads or pipelines and development will not take place within any watercourses, within 32m of a watercourse. There will be no disturbance to any graves that may occur on site.
