ProposalDescription:

Lions Head Platinum (Pty) Ltd (Mareesburg) is an existing mine owned by Eastern Platinum Limited. The mine already has approved Environmental Management Programmes (EMPRs) and Environmental Authorisations (EAs) form the relevant competent authorities. Currently there are no mining activities as the mining operation is in care and maintenance. This application for environmental authorisation is for the upgrade of an existing gravel road to a functional haul road. The proposed haul road is envisioned to link the ore concentrator at Everest Platinum Mine (crossing the various portions of farms mentioned) with the Mareesburg opencast mine (located on Portion 6 of Mareesburg 8 JT). An application for a water use licence (due to stream crossings on the proposed route) has also been initiated with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS).
