ProposalDescription:

Balwin Properties (Pty) Ltd on behalf of the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT) plans to construct and upgrade the K50 (Garsfonetin Road) approximately 8.2km.

Expanded_Motivation:

The proposed K50 (Garsfontein Road) upgrades will be conducted in phases, covering a total distance of approximately 8.2km from the Garsfontein Road/ Tier Road intersection in the south-east up to the Garsfontein Road/De Villebois Mareuil Road Intersection in the north-west. At this stage it is envisaged that the planned road upgrades will consist of the following: Phase 1: The widening Garsfontein Road by two lanes per direction from Jollify Main Road at the Garsfontein entrances of the Mooikloof Ridge and Equestrian Estates up to De Villebois Mareuil Drive; Phase 2: The widening Garsfontein Road by two lanes per direction from Tier Road up to Jollify Main Road; and Phase 3: The widening Garsfontein Road to three lanes per direction from the Tier Road/Garsfontein intersection up to its intersection with the proposed Road K54. The proposed phased road upgrades will also include the upgrading of various intersections along the involved section of Garsfontein Road. The upgrades will mainly take place within existing road reserves and the application will address all development phases of the road (Route Determination, Preliminary Design and Detail Design) depending on the existing and future planning status of the involved section of Garsfontein Road. The road upgrades could also require the relocation of services/the implementation of temporary or permanent services roads/alternative accesses to properties. At this stage it is envisaged that the proposed road upgrades will occur on Portions of the Farms Rietfontein 375 JR, Garstfontein 374 JR and Grootfontein 394 JR and it could affect townships, erven, agricultural holdings and developments situated along the involved section of Garsfontein Road and the intersections to be upgraded. Location: The proposed road upgrade will occur in the east of Tshwane in the Mooikloof area from the Woodlands Mall in the North-West up to Mooikloof Manor Residential Estate in the South-East.
