Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

Reliant Consulting intends to construct the power line for Mogalakwena Local municipality on the above-mentioned project. The power line will include new 728M MV, which will T-off from the existing power line in pole number SJK120/33/17 (refer to the Span plan sheets and the Pegging Coordinates for more information) traversing on the farm of Portion 0 of Knapdaar 234-KR, in Mogalakwena Local Municipality of Waterberg District Municipality of the Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Environmental Screening of the power line route was conducted during pegging of the power line route by the Survey team, leading to the generation of the servitude planning documents [Distribution Environmental Screening Document (DESD), Wayleave, Span plan, and Pegging coordinates attached for your reference]. Heritage resources such as properly fenced-off graveyards were not observed on-site, see 6.3 of the DESD. The project is within the residential and in the open area that is already disturbed by current land use activities such as the existing roads, existing power lines, houses, and Property boundary fence. Given the observation that the area is already disturbed, Down Reliant Consulting hereby notifies SAHRA of the proposed construction of the power line which is more than 300M in length. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Reliant Consulting shall immediately cease construction, inform the SAHRA office, and other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct an investigation as prescribed by the Act
