ProposalDescription:

Motsamai John Kharafu proposes to establish a small-scale sands mining operation. The total development area will be approximately 4.6 hectares, and will have a lifespan of 2 years. The process will include the dredging or removal of sand from river and that deposited on the watercourse of Caledon River. The sand will be stored in stockpiles within the 4.6-hectare area. A portion on the Farm Joel Molapp 10, About 20 km East of Fouriesburg, Free State

Expanded_Motivation:

The sand mining industry is one of the important industries in the country and Joel Molapp 10 about 20 km East of Fouriesburg has an abundant supply of this resource. The proposed method of excavating sand allows easy access of machinery to the site and does not require extensive machinery as other methods, making it feasible for small-scale miners. It reduces the overall costs associated with the mining process, thus allowing financial viability in small scale mining of deposits. Mr Motsamai John Kharafu will contribute towards local socio-economic development, as it aims to provide employment opportunities to the local people as far as possible, thus stimulating development in the Fouriesburg community. The proposed project therefore is an effort to make use of available opportunities and development in the Dihlabeng Local Municipality.
