Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Thungela Operations (Pty) Ltd (Bank Colliery - Goedehoop North) (Reg. No.: 1921/006730/07) has an existing Mining Right (Ref No: (MP 30/5/1/2/2/ (143) MR) in terms of Section 23(1) of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002) (“MPRDA”), for Bank Colliery (Goedehoop North). Bank Colliery (Goedehoop North) also have existing authorised IWULs (License numbers: (MRD EXP 06/B11H/CGI/9286) (MAIN WUL 04/B11H/AFGJ/633) (BROWN SHAFT 04/B11H/ACGIJ/4329) (GN704 27/2/2/B11G/257) (GN704 27/2/2/B11G/257) to undertake activities regarded as water uses in terms of Section 21 of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998) (“NWA”). Bank Colliery (Goedehoop North) intends to expand one of its Coal Product stockpiling facilities (Goedehoop North Colliery Coal Product Stockpile Expansion), which will trigger new water uses and therefore a new IWUL to conduct the water use activities in terms of Section 21 of the NWA, is applied for. Thungela Operations (Pty) Ltd (Bank Colliery - Goedehoop North); is also applying for an Environmental Authorisation (“EA”) for the proposed Coal Product Stockpiling Expansion Project. This application includes an application for listed activities in terms of Section 24(5) and Section 44 of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) (“NEMA”). The legislation is read together with Regulations 19 & 20 of the amended Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (Government Notice No. 982).
