Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Temporary export permit for the loan of S.A. War khaki tunic to the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art

Expanded_Motivation: 

The National Museum of African Art (NMAfA) at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. is presenting an exhibition entitled “Earth Matters: Land as Material and Metaphor in the Arts of Africa” from 22 April 2013 to 4 January 2014. The lead curator of the exhibition is Dr. Karen E Milbourne, and she will explore how individuals and communities visually mediate their relationship with the land upon which they live, work and frame their days. The exhibition will consist of about 100 works. The NMAfA is asking to borrow from Museum Africa an S A War khaki tunic with scenes on it drawn in black ink by an unknown artist, c1900, accession number MA1967-709. The tunic to be shown in a section called “Strategies of the Surface”.
