There are known diamond deposits in the area which were discovered during mining activities within the area and the discovery of alluvial diamond which is within the vicinity of the area. In terms of the technologies proposed, the proposed prospecting methods (diamond drilling and geophysical survey) have been chosen based on the known success of prospecting using them. The prospecting activities proposed in the Prospecting Works Programme (PWP) is dependent on the preceding phase as previously discussed, therefore no alternatives are indicated, but rather a phased approach of trusted prospecting techniques. The success of this phase of the project could lead into the creation of jobs and skills development of the disadvantaged South Africans.
