Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Construction of 8 new chicken houses with dimensions of 12m x 120m, each housing 35 000 chickens. This is communal land owned by RSA Government. The surface area needed for the activity will be 7 hectares. The houses will be constructed as a steel structure with sink roof.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Construction of 8 new chicken houses with dimensions of 12m x 120m, housing 35 000 chickens/ lay hens. A total area of 7ha will be demarcated and fenced off that will have the new chicken houses with associated infrastructure like office building, ablution parking/loading bay. The application area will thus be for 7 hectare. The facility in total of the 8 houses will handle on average (280 000) chicken hens for egg production . New houses will be constructed as steel structures with dimensions of 12m x 120m housing 35 000 laying hens per facility and associated structures The applicant is K2018106205 (South Africa) ( Pty) Ltd of which Mr. Bathobakae Lerakong is the director and Rep of South Africa Government is the landowner. The new identified area is currently used as natural grazing. The natural grazing is currently in bad state as overgrazing is evident. There are also no big trees that need to be uprooted for the clearance of the 7 hectares. There is currently only on small shack used for storage and an entrance road. In phase 1 the only the areas where the houses will be constructed will be cleared of vegetation. In phase 2 the houses will be constructed as a steel structure with sink roof. The floor foundations will be concrete. The house will have its own coal heating system. In phase 3 the new houses and associated buildings will be fenced off as a unit. The project duration will be four years as the intention is to build two houses a year for four years. This house will have very limited environmental impacts. This house will have no negative impact on any neighbour or community. A full public participation process will be undertaken.
